Move your body
As you’ve seen throughout the challenge, self-care and finding balance is all about discovering what works best for you. Something else to keep in mind is that any one of the stress-relieving practices you decide to incorporate into your day and routine won’t work at their best if you’re not making sure you take care of yourself all-around. For example, your meditations won’t be effective if you’re too tired to stay awake. You won’t see optimal effects from journaling if you only do it once in a blue moon.
Self-care starts with taking care of your basic needs: sleeping enough, eating well and drinking enough water. Then, you add on whatever you feel works best for you. See which areas of your life need more attention, and reassess this regularly.
That being said, because being up on your feet all day is quite tiring and that repetitive movements can lead to strains and injuries, we would also recommend adding even just a few exercises and stretches to your everyday pre and post work day routine to prevent that from happening.
Today’s challenge is in part provided by Rachel Paige (@rachelpaigexo & @healthyhairstylistxo), salon owner, business coach and educator, who has integrated movement into their daily routines after going through challenging experiences.
