Why it\u2019s hard to see your own typos<\/h3>\n

According to psychologist Tom Stafford who studies typos at the University of Sheffield, the number one reason why it\u2019s so hard to see our own typos is because our brain is working harder than usual when it’s trying to convey a message. <\/span><\/p>\n

As a\u00a0result, our brain simplifies what is showing. You won\u2019t see letters as individual letters, you will see words and sentences. Let’s have you test what I mean. <\/span><\/p>\n

Remember when teachers in school would say read your essay backwards to proofread yourself? They told us that for a reason. Proofread yourself:<\/strong> run your text through a spelling correcting software (there\u2019s quite a few out there, Grammarly<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Ginger Software<\/a>, print your email and proof it by hand, change the background colour and the font…\u00a0Another trick you can do is to read your words out loud or upside down. basically, use any trick that makes it easier for you to spot errors!<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Send yourself a test email:<\/strong> have a look at your subject line<\/a>, your general form, the links you put in\u2026 make sure everything works!<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Have a colleague take a fresh look at your campaign:<\/strong> find someone that can proofread for you\u00a0in your team.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
