When used appropriately, salon email autoresponders are a great tool that keeps your clients informed freeing up time for you to look after appointments, manage stock or whatever it is you urgently need to get done. But like everything <\/span>online<\/span><\/i>, there\u2019s an etiquette to it! <\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a few things you should know for your autoresponders to be viewed as more of a benefit than an annoyance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Salon email autoresponders etiquette<\/b><\/h2>\n

As a business owner, you barely\u00a0get a minute to yourself with everything\u00a0you need to do – appointments, reports, stock, schedules… name it. You\u2019re busy (we get that! \ud83d\ude09 ) and emails take time, but you can\u2019t fail to reply\u00a0-especially if clients are trying to book in!<\/span><\/p>\n

The dangers of setting autoresponders to all emails<\/h3>\n

In general, it\u2019s perceived as inappropriate to send an automatic response to all emails. Most people figure you are fully capable of answering and receiving their emails. An auto-reply will only drive many of them away. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, email autoresponders are great for when you go on vacation or some sort of leave. But even then, most people are sensitive to the impression your message leaves. Meaning, if you\u2019re the type to let your customers know\u00a0you\u2019re on vacation sunbathing in Spain, you\u2019re doing it wrong. <\/span><\/p>\n

And please be careful when you set your autoresponder\u2026 Where I used to work at, we once had a staff member set it\u00a0for the next Monday and told the software to apply to all emails she had ever got on top of the ones that would come in. Needless to say she got quite a few clients ringing her…<\/span><\/p>\n

Composing the right email autoresponder for your salon<\/b><\/h3>\n

Now, we don\u2019t suggest you use salon automatic email responders to ALL EMAILS, but if you do resort to that,\u00a0then make sure you follow these key points:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Remember that it\u2019s an autoresponder, so make sure you indicate that in the subject line – and not “Re.” When you set it to \u201cRe.\u201d it implies you\u2019re replying to a client when in reality, you aren\u2019t really.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Make sure you give your client another option for reaching the salon or redirect them to your online booking system.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. Tell your clients when they should expect a real<\/i> answer or at least tell them you will get back to them as soon as things quiet down.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    4. Make sure you include your social media pages and handles.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    5. Make sure your automatic reply is friendly and honest, but still professional.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
