Hosted downtown Denver at the Curtis Hotel, the weekend was designed for artists and creatives to explore their creative potential, find their edge to grow their business, increase their client base, and\u00a0<strong><i>thrive\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>in today\u2019s competitive salon environment.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>An Insider&#8217;s Look At The Two-Day Intensive &amp; Educational Workshop That Was The Thrive Sessions Denver<\/h2>\n<p>Something I personally enjoy about attending hair and beauty industry events is going behind the scenes. There&#8217;s something special about assisting classes, meeting educators, stylists and artists and hear what the industry struggles with. For one, it helps me craft more targeted content for people to enjoy on the Phorest Blog, but it also means witnessing a very unique display of passion, motivation and desire to learn. And when I go around classes to take photos, that&#8217;s what I strive to capture. The passion, the dedication.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Bn0Nag9Hpi5\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here for a short and sweet video recap.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Day One &#8212;<\/h2>\n<h3>Modern Hair Cutting (with Sally Rogerson of\u00a0S\u2022R Education)<\/h3>\n<p>The first class I attended was <strong><em>&#8220;Modern Hair Cutting&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> led by Sally Rogerson, Creative Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sallyrogerson.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">S\u2022R Education<\/a>. Described as a hands-on, practical and efficient approach for salons, stylists,\u00a0and cosmetology schools,\u00a0S\u2022R Education&#8217;s essence is about high-quality hair education for all. This particular class was focused on the\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">L\u20221 Signature Cut, also known as\u00a0<em>\u201cThe Money Maker.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/albumizr.com\/a\/E3I\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>Sally Rogerson Education, Thrive Denver Sessions<\/h5>\n<p>Accompanied by educators from her team <em>(Todd Baylor,\u00a0<\/em><span class=\"s3\"><em>Michael Layne, Ryan Lewis, Cale Horibe and Ruthie Grayson)<\/em>, Sally started by explaining how the\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">L\u20221 Signature Cut isn&#8217;t all that difficult. In fact, she said, it&#8217;s a great cut for\u00a0<span class=\"s2\">any style or age of client and any length of hair,\u00a0<\/span>but it&#8217;s all &#8216;<em>out there&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0and that e<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\">very detail\/movement has to be on point &#8211; <em>every single time<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">The session took place in a very supportive atmosphere and was broken down between hands-on practice and application, demos with teachers and short presentations led by Sally. Attendees got tips regarding sectioning, body positioning, g<\/span><span class=\"s1\">raduation, l<\/span><span class=\"s1\">ayering and finishing techniques (pointing, slicing and twisting). Similar to Sally Rogerson&#8217;s class, the allocated three-hour was split between hands-on application, demos with teachers and short presentations led by Lindsay. The goal was to provide attendees with<span class=\"s1\">\u00a0fun, creative and fast ways to transform clients&#8217; looks with wearable hair. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/albumizr.com\/a\/6M-g\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>The Business Of Balayage, Thrive Denver Sessions<\/h5>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Lindsay and her team <em>(Lindsey McPherson, Kara, Van Hoogenstyn, Alicia Hayes, Beth Wilkinson, Sherri Swann) <\/em>covered quite a bit of ground with\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">techniques for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">converting brunettes to blondes, creating a\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">roadmap for achieving diffused and dimensional blondes,<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0understanding the art of a root smudge and finally,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">teaching a reverse balayage technique used for simplifying the process of adding depth back into the hair. Accompanied by her team <em>(Carolyn Piras, Kayla Themer, Jessica Mckenzie,\u00a0Heather Shea),\u00a0<\/em>Lindsay&#8217;s session covered the\u00a0most popular methods of hair extension applications.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/albumizr.com\/a\/ASGU\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>Elle.B Academy, Thrive Denver Sessions<\/h5>\n<p>Elle. B Academy is a balayage, hair color and hair extension training company purely focused on the success of hair stylists and salon owners. And although the class touched upon custom coloring, pricing, consultation, and finishing, both the attendees and the educators&#8217; full attention was steered towards beaded weave and micro-link extensions techniques. Natalie tackled questions such as <em>&#8220;H<\/em><span class=\"s1\"><em>ow\u00a0you can make the most out of the platform?&#8221;<\/em> and <em>&#8220;How can Stories play a key role in a salon\/spa&#8217;s marketing strategy?&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/albumizr.com\/a\/pj9j\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>Business Session, Thrive Denver Sessions<\/h5>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Specifically, Natalie&#8217;s class discussed Instagram Stories, h<\/span><span class=\"s2\">ighlights, the s<\/span><span class=\"s2\">wipe up feature and the f<\/span><span class=\"s2\">ollowers vs engagement debate, to which she says,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201cStop focusing on followers and start focusing on engagement. Managing a quick turnaround, the organisational team invited Jenny Strebe <a href=\"https:\/\/theconfessionsofahairstylist.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(The Confessions Of A Hairstylist)<\/a>, who\u00a0wholeheartedly\u00a0took the stage to share her roller-coaster-but-inspiring journey with everyone, sparking questions and much laughter.<\/p>\n<h3>About Jenny Strebe, The Confessions Of A Hairstylist<\/h3>\n<p><em>&#8220;Fusing her talent for hairdressing and devotion to education, Jenny founded leading blog and YouTube channel, The Confessions of a Hairstylist, and carved herself a niche as the go-to for hair how-to&#8217;s.
