This was the mindset of Gayle and David in Headlines, who made the move to Phorest in 2018 after spending the previous six years using an outdated salon software that brought more problems than it did solutions. 


Unlike their previous system, which was clunky, unreliable, and difficult to use, Phorest offered Headlines the Salon a range of powerful yet user-friendly features designed specifically to help a salon of their kind grow. 


Investing in Partnerships That Count

Inspired by the positive changes brought by implementing Phorest some years before, Headlines the Salon were introduced to colour waste management software Vish in 2021. With full integration into the Phorest system, Vish uses smart tech to allow salon professionals to accurately record the amount of colour required for specific clients and services, automatically saving this information to clients’ digital client cards on Phorest for future reference.

While change can be scary for many salons, it didn’t take long for the staff at Headlines to recognise the benefits of using Phorest and Vish together; “Integrating Vish into the salon was very easy,” recalls Director of Operations at Headlines, Brittni Gallucci. “The support we received was tremendous, and the setup was seamless. It was also very easy to integrate Vish with Phorest.” This ease of installation, combined with a seamless integration between both software, led to a stress-free transition of which Headlines reaped the benefits.

Using Technology for a Data-Driven Approach to Salon Management

Salon technology can be an incredible revenue generator; helping you both save and make money. That’s exactly what Headlines has experienced from their years of using Phorest and Vish. 

Using Phorest’s employee performance dashboard to coach stylists on the impact of colour waste in the salon, Brittni explains; “I’m able to sit down with [staff] after a service and show them how much they threw away, how much they saved, and the cost per service. We can be completely transparent on all the numbers, so they can understand and see what they’re doing. It benefits stylists, the guests, and the salon.”


This data-driven, technology-aided approach has worked well financially, too. The salon increased reweigh by 25% in one month, with one stylist going from 40% to an incredible 90%. “We’re now seeing an overall awareness of our stylists being conscious of what they’re doing regarding colour usage. When you use data to show people, it’s like a lightbulb goes off,” says David.
