September VAT Changes in Ireland

< 1 min

VAT is changing from 23% to 21% for Irish salons starting September 2020.

On 1st September 2020, the standard rate of Irish VAT will be temporarily reduced from 23% to 21% for a six month period, ending 28th February 2021.

This new measure was introduced by the Irish Government as part of the July Jobs Stimulus package to support businesses through the economic struggles brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Your rate of VAT has automatically been changed within your Phorest system – it is not automatically reflected in any of the prices your customers will see, but you do not need to take any action to change the rate of VAT which you will be paying for this six month period.

Once the six month relief has ended, so long as it is the decision of the Irish government to do so, your VAT will automatically revert to 23%.
Phorest has automated these functions so you do not need to make any changes in your system. The new VAT rate will be reflected in your monthly direct debit invoice from Phorest.

For more information on these changes, see the Government website
here.
